Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information Orvana collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. We've kept it as short and plain as we could.

What we collect

When you create an account and use Orvana, we collect:

• Name and email address - provided when you sign up
• County - Nassau or Suffolk, if you choose to share it during onboarding
• Been There Badges - the badges you select to represent your journey
• Content you post - forum posts, replies, and milestone submissions
• Usage data - basic information about how you use the platform (pages visited, features used) to help us improve the experience

We do not collect payment information. We do not collect your child's name, diagnosis details, or any health information about your child.

How we use it

We use your information to:

• Run your account and let you participate in the community
• Display your name, county, and badges on your posts (unless you post anonymously)
• Send you emails through MailerLite - welcome messages, community updates, and notifications you opt into
• Moderate content to keep the community safe
• Improve the platform based on how people use it

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not build behavioral profiles for marketing purposes.

We will never sell your data

Anonymous mode

When you post anonymously, your name, county, and badges are hidden from other members. Your post appears as "An Orvana Parent." Your account is still linked to the post internally so we can moderate effectively, but no other member can identify you as the author.

Anonymous posts are still subject to our community standards and may be removed if they violate our terms.

Who handles your data

Orvana uses trusted third-party services to operate:

• Supabase - our database and authentication provider. Your account data and content are stored on Supabase's servers. Supabase is SOC 2 compliant and does not use your data for any purpose other than providing us database services.
• MailerLite - our email platform. Your name and email address are stored in MailerLite to send you community communications. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email we send.
• Netlify - our hosting provider. Netlify serves the Orvana website and processes form submissions.

We don't share your data with any other third parties.

Cookies

Orvana uses minimal cookies. Supabase sets a session cookie to keep you signed in across visits. We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

Your rights

You can:

• Update your name, county, and badges at any time from your profile page
• Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Unsubscribe from emails at any time

To request data export or deletion, email us at [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Orvana is for parents and caregivers - not for children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll let you know by email before the changes take effect.
